You hold your learner licence for at least 12 months, and must complete 120 hours of supervised driving practice, including 20 hours of night driving.If you are 25 years or older, you are not required to log your driving hours in a log book.You can download the free log book apps from your preferred app store. You'll receive the paper log book when you’re issued with your learner licence. You can choose to use a paper log book or a log book app. If you’re under 25, you must record your driving experience in a log book.You can practise for the Driver Knowledge Test online.You must not use any function of a mobile phone while you're driving or riding. This includes when you're waiting at lights, or stuck in traffic, and means texting, hands-free, speaker mode and GPS functions. If you have not had professional driving lessons prior to taking the test, it is recommended that you engage an instructor before taking the test. Once you have passed the test, you can then progress to booking your Practical Driving Test to get your provisional P1 license.In each video, you'll need to touch the screen to demonstrate how you would handle a situation on the road - like slowing down, or turning at an intersection.You'll experience 15 short videos in the test, with 2 practice videos before the test begins.You can find useful resources on how to prepare for your test on the NSW Government website here.You will need to pay for your test at the time of booking.
